SAMAR'S EXPERIENCE:
FACILITATOR of the DAVIS® DYSLEXIA CORRECTION PROGRAMME (Since 2003)
Samar Saab was the FIRST Davis® Facilitator in LEBANON. This programme is the first of its kind that provides total correction of learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, ADHD, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia, in a 5 day, one-to-one programme, of 30 hours with a follow up at home. Most importantly, it perceives dyslexia as a GIFT rather than a disability.
The facilitator's main goals are:
- to increase awareness of what dyslexia and related learning styles really are, i.e., seeing dyslexia as a GIFT.
- to control disorientation, thus having accurate perception.
- to give the skill of Davis® Symbol Mastery to correct learning difficulties through the use of clay. Once a person becomes a corrected dyslexic, s/he will have high self esteem and a life long learning skills that can be applied to any learning situation.
SAMAR OPERATES "IMPRESSIVE MINDS" (her clinic) (since 1993)
Impressive Minds provides diagnosis and treatment for educational, social and psychological difficulties, for all age groups. Samar also organises school workshops regarding educational topics, as well as prepares training programs catered for teachers' needs. After facilitating the Davis® Dyslexia Correction Programme, Samar opts to take some students with academic and psycho-emotional needs off school for a specific period of time, to fill all their gaps. They will then return to their own school to continue their education normally.
EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANT FOR SCHOOLS (since 1993)
Samar has been the educational consultant for many schools in Lebanon, advising them on educational matters, and providing them with workshops and hands-on-activities on how to best implement theories into practice.
SAMAR'S OBJECTIVES:
Samar has an open, non-judgemental mind with a professional approach to her work. Her good listening and observational abilities, as well as her communication skills, help her in her career as a psychologist.
Samar specialises in Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity (ADHD). Her interest in personal change and development led her recently, to become a licensed Facilitator of the Davis® Dyslexia Correction Program.
Through her work as a Davis® Facilitator, she is hoping to change the idea that Dyslexia and AD/HD are disabilities, and replace it with what they really are, a GIFT.
